Wedding Timeline Tips

How much time should I allocate for photos?

Typically 45 minutes to 1 hour for family and couple photos. This keeps your timeline moving while capturing all the essential shots. Also, always keep some buffer time for the friend group photos as well!

When should the first dance happen?

Most couples do the first dance right after dinner service concludes, around 30-45 minutes into the reception. This gives guests time to eat and settle in.

How long should each course take?

Plan for about 20-30 minutes per course, including time for toasts, announcements, and DJ entertainment between courses. It also takes time for the staff to make their rounds, so having some entertainment worked in will help.

What about the photography timeline?

Share your detailed timeline with your photographer. Include getting-ready shots, pre-ceremony photos, ceremony time, and key reception moments. Sometimes venues have key locations onsite for photos and sometimes they can take time to get to, plan ahead for this as well.
